Is your stator the original?

Have you ever replaced the carb needle and needle jet?

I have not replaced the needle but i have a main jets that i have changed and no matter what direction i go with the jets and needle pos it dosent make a diff but when i change the cap it clears up the prob and the bike runs great the needle looks good no scratches

The spark plug cap is not a known issue and few if any have ever reported having trouble with this part although it is supposed to be replaced at regular intervals (but no one does it).

The carb needle and needle jet are known high wear items that will give you an overly rich condition that cannot be jetted away.

The SEM stator is also a known problematic part that may last four years or so or may go out almost immediately.

You can have your stator rewound by "Sparks" a member here. His banner ad displays at the top of the page intermittently. Here is the link:

Go the the Main Menu on the left and click the Owners Doc, in there you will find the resistance values to test your stator.

Based on the year of your bike I would replace the needle and needle jet right away and make sure your floats are in good shape and the float height is correctly set.
