Guys,

In trying to sort out my rocker arm/valve issue, I came across what looks like an oil leak at the top of my ignition cover, where the wires enter the housing.

Here are some photos:

Should this be as easy as replacing the ignition cover gasket? part number 81230040000

If so, is there more to that than just unbolting the cover, swapping the gasket for a new one and re bolting it? I've never taken an ignition cover off, just don't want any surprises. I am thinking it is above the oil so I shouldn't be prepared to catch any.

Thanks

Quite often you can get oil coming from the airfilter that drips around there. Check for this first. The gasket is easily replaced. I make my own.

It seems to me the oil is leaking around the grommet holding the two wires (for the stator?) My first thought was to replace the gasket and at the same time using some sort of sealant to help seal around the grommet.

Don't use sealant. It can end up circulating internally.

I'll start with just the gasket then, in that case. If the leak continues maybe I'll just have to tolerate it haha. I don't think that grommet can be replaced without swapping the whole wire assembly.
