Hi, recently bought a bike, is 04 450FE. It came with a gizmo that was reputed to alter the ignition curve to switch between low end torque and top end power. Don't know if anyone is familiar with such a device.
Could anyone help me with a wiring diagram or point me in the direction of where to locate one to help me to fit it, Thanks, Neil

welcome to UHE robbo

where you from?

the bikes with SEM ignition were fitted with this device but it wasn't deemed necassary on the '04s onwards with the newer kokusan. sorry-you had an old wives tale...

if you want to lower the power at low revs change to an E series needle. this will give you more top end and less bottom.

check out the doc for the correct needle.

The 04's and up come with a TPS (throttle position sensor) that is not adjustable. The wires coming from the carb alter the ignition curve. Like Taffy said only the earlier 01-03's had the hi/low switch. You can always try unplugging your TPS if you want to experiment with a different curve.

i took the berg guru's advice [dale] and disconnected the tps . i like the change in power delivery , it is not so savage . and it suits the area and surface that i ride , rocks / gravel and gnarly hills . FE650E 04 , i have not noticed a change in fuel consumption . mopedsmile:
