I just torn down my 2002 501E, after a season and a half of riding. I thought it was time to inspect the cam and rockers as well as fix the pesky e-start clutch. The bike ran fine though. I just finished putting it back together and it starts immediately idles but as soon as I try to crack the throttle it dies, choke or not. I didn't remove the carb or head so nothing should have changed there. Anybody had a simular problem? Any ideas?

OK, I'm going to give myself a blondie and pretend like I never asked this question. Turns out that even though I stuffed a rag in the intake, some water got in while I was cleaning the engine and made it's way to the float bowl. Drained it and all is well.
