Hey all, I have a 1999 FC501 with a 40mm Dellotro carb, pardon the spelling. Adjusting the idle needle has absolutely no effect on the idle what so ever, except with the hotstart out. I was just wondering if anyone had a photo of what the needle should look like, also I was just wondering what jetting would suit her.
She has a Spes pipe.
I am just getting back into bikes after a long absence.
Apart from being an absolute mongrel to kickstart I really enjoy my bike, very easy to roll start but, so I am training myself to stall at the top of hills.
Thanks all.

G'day Gumby190, I just wanted to tell you that the outspoken Brit named TAFFY has a good "how-to" paper on the BERG in the download section and you can go through the steps to diagnose the starting problem. It may be as simple as a valve adjustment. I bought a BERG as a first bike after being away from bikes for a long time as well. A real learning experience, but never a dull moment. Keep checking in here and you will gain lots of good advice from many experienced Berg owners. Best of luck. BD :)

Hi, I just finished reading Taffy's guide, pretty helpful. I have decided not to go near the valves yet & have come across a friend of a friend who is going to set her up for me & give me a hand & show me what to do.
You are right about the never a dull moment, I am still kicking myself for not getting an electric start. Damn kickstart on the wrong side.
Still when she is running I can't wipe the smile off my face.

glad you found it helpful gumby. sometimes it's hard dealing with some real tits but it's nice to know it's appreciated. the europeans keep the site honest ....

regards

Taffy
