Has anyone had this issue.....
When i blip the throttle the revs return to around 2300rpm then slowly drops to an idle maybe 3sec . Had the the throttle grip to bits and adjusted the cables and all that seems to be fine. When i snap the throttle with the engine off the butterfly is closing as it should. Cold start is off and tried lowing the idle to under a grand just to see but no joy???

Idle adjustment is not correct if you set the idle to high the engine will seam to hunt or the rpm will "hang" if you blip the throttle. Could also be your TPS but most likely its just your Idle setting

Cheers mate..The idle seems to be at the correct setting. Took bike out of the shed this morning to get the dealer to have a look and hit the starter and issue has gone...Now thinking TPS may have got some moisture in it at some stage on the weekend...Ordered one of these http://www.ktm-parts.com/77111014050.html and see how it goes.

The TPS is the only EFI sensor that has moving parts, so I guess it has the most chance of going faulty.
I guess the next most sensitive sensor would be the MAP sensor.
The rest are just temp sensors or coils.
This assumes no one uses the Oxygen Sensor anymore in the 2009 models.
Not sure what is in the roll over sesnor, so can't comment on that.

I have had the same issue intermittently too. I have played with the idle and it doesn't see to make a difference. I will be watching for updates here and will post if I make any discoveries. Thanks for the protector part link. Can't hurt...

For under $10, seems like cheap insurance - can you describe where on the bike it goes and how easy to install?
thanx in advance
Fizz.

Hey Fiz,
The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) is on the Throttle Body. Just to the right of the Idle Screw and above the Quick Disconnect on the Fuel Line. You can see it in this picture:

Can't help you with how easy it is to install but there is a bit of a clue on the KTM Parts web site:

KTM TPS Protection Cap
For 2012 models, KTM has fitted a protection cap 77111014050 on the TPS to help prevent foreign debris from entering. This can be mounted to the 2011 models as well by first removing the connector from the wire harness (NOT A WARRANTY ITEM).
Evaluations and inspections of faulty EFI components have revealed that dirt and water are a major cause of failures. During cleaning and maintenance, the use of high pressure washing could create contamination troubles with the fuel management & delivery systems and is not recommended. After extensive market research, TPS failures have mostly been found to be caused by moisture contamination via high pressure washing and/or impacts from debris.
