Hi
Having the frame powder coated and was wondering what I should do about the ID plate on the frame, should I prise it off or mask it?

And which would look better Semi Gloss or Gloss black?

if they can't see it at MOT time they can't even start the MOT. i would mask it for sure. i had a tiger cub two weeks ago, went 13 miles for the MOT and when i got there..... we didn't even get it started! the number he felt ho coul;d see was rejected by the vosa 'puter.

Does prising them off destroy them?

as It'd look better to coat the frame and then stick the plate back on, looks like its only held on with glue, but I dont wont to start prising it off to find it fooks the plate, as you say I'll need at MOT time.

If you don't mind me asking, how much is the powder coating costing? Does this have advantages over having the frame sprayed/lacquered etc?

Does your price include stripping down & rebuild?

Thanks

Crispin

If it's the one on the head stock mine is like a foil stick on thing, never seen an actual plate.
Where is it located on your's?, mine is a 04 550.

Sparks.

RE: Re: ID Plate & Powder coating

Right now I'm home, the Ali VIN plate was just stuck on came off rear easy. was thinking it might be stuck on with some type of industrial super glue and would a pig to get off.

Powder coatings costing 90 GBP that to gritblast and coat in Gloss black only.

Iv strip it down and removed the headraces.
