I Think My 600's Been Lowered

Hey guys. As some of you know, I recently picked up an '00 FE600E--thread here: http://husaberg.org/husaberg/24381-opinions-2000-fe600e.html and I'm pretty sure this thing has been lowered. :bad-words: Now, I don't need lowered. In fact, I need the opposite of lowered.

I got to looking at it this morning and thought, man, this bike looks a lot smaller than my former FE650. My old TT600 is taller--something's not right here. So I measured the distance between the bottom of the forks where they would bottom against the fork seal and got roughly 9 3/4" to the seal. Sorry metric guys but I'm a barbaric American.

Shouldn't that be closer to 11 or 12" ?
So if the shock and forks have indeed been shortened, how do I go about reversing the procedure?

you'll have to disassemble and remove the spacers that keep the forks / shock from returning to full extension.
my 650 is lowered about 1 1/2" (38mm) and i like it that way.

So the springs shouldn't be cut or anything? Just remove spacers?
Sorry if these are dumb questions but I have never shortened suspension before.

If it was lowered by anyone who knew what they were doing, it will have spacers. If not, there is a chance the fork springs may have been cut. You will find out upon disassembly.

Unless the riding you do demands more ground clearance, you may consider giving it a try in the lowered position. Lowered bikes corner much better as a result of the lower center of gravity.

My 06 FS 650 conversion has shorter fork springs.
So just thinking that there could be a chance you will find shorter springs in your 600.
Only one way to find out.

vor165-- Everything you say is true and since I'm just trail riding and the biggest jumps I will encounter are 2-3 foot water bars, maybe I'll have a go at it as is and see how it works.

Taffy-- Yes, it was on the ground on the kickstand but I pulled back on the bars to make sure the forks were fully extended.

Spring should be okay but there will be no preload spacers accordingly. You may need to put preload spacers in when you get full travel by removing the installed top out spacer that reduced the travel. There may also a black tube that has also been cut to fit compensate for the reduced length.

With the shock in was common not to use a top out spacer but instead shift the top shock eye higher by drilling a hole higher on the frame. Check that by taking the seat off and looking.
