hello, and congrats on a top of the line site.
ive just joined the husaberg owners family with the purchase of a 96FE 501. Nice bike but have broken foot so i must wait patiently to take her out on a date in the woods. Starting problems but sorting it through the info found here. Any info on husaberg development history would be great- ie, changes to the bike over the years 89- 96. thanks

here are some photos/ sites that might be of interest.

Those photos are that of the crazy twin-engine 6x650cc hill climber from Canada. Videos exist of the beast doing some climbs.

Keywords are "Throttle control".

That bike has the air filter in the frame? Would this make the available room for a gas tank much larger?

Ershank, if you look closely you'll see that it has two engines, therefore two Dellortos, which is why they modded the air intake to accomodate two manifolds. These guys had a lot of time on their hands.

Oh I know it has 2 engines, but isn't air through the frame a good idea? Couldn't the intake be out near the front of the frame intead of under the gas tank?

Or am I not understanding something... which is probably the case because I dont have a husaberg yet. What's a dellorto?

Dellorto: carburetor manufacturer. The Bergs used PHM38 and 40 carbs up until 2003 when they switched to Keihin FCR carbs

Two questions then...

1. does the stock air breathe through the frame?

2. do the photos show the frame of the motorcycle acting as an actual intake?

If your question is "Does the top of the frame act as an airbox?", the answer is yes, as it is one of the particularities of the Husaberg design.

Sorry, I don't have a husaberg yet... Didn't know that the frame never got warm....

The frames on all of my streetbikes would get warm.

I was talking about the FS650, isn't that liquid cooled? Both of my R6's were liquid cooled. The frame on the FS650 stays completely cool?

Huh you're pushing the issue a bit too far.

You cannot wrap the central beam, anyway, or the tank would not be able to fit anymore. It's a tight fit.

When you show up and people see a bike entirely wrapped up with heat wrap like a mummy, they'll say "Hey, that must be Ershank".
