I have inherited an FE570, a bittersweet acquisition.

Hello all,

As the title states, I am now the owner of a 2011 FE570. This bike is not new to me. See, My lifelong riding buddy has become incapacitated and is no longer able to ride it. I remember when he bought it brand new, it was the hottest chit out there as KTM had not switched over to FI yet. We had both been riding XR650Rs and would meet up a couple times a year for dual sport trips. In 2011 he had to tow me out of a bad situation in Death Valley and blew up his XR. I offered to buy the Honda from him and he bought the new Berg. I have never ridden the bike because I was a die hard Honda fan and refused to ride the euro bike. Fast forward a couple years and I finally caved in and bought a 2013 KTM 500 EXC. I guess watching him toggle the E start ruined me.
After our last ride in 2020, he left the bike out outside and it never ran again. The bike needs some love now and that's why I am here. I finally began disassembly of the bike and it is in surprising good condition, but it's unlike any dirt bike I have ever worked on it's weird. I am in the process of deciding if the bike has enough sentimental value to keep, or try to sell. It is pretty redundant to have both the KTM, which I Love and the Husaberg. More to follow.

Ride it first before you sell it. But be warned your going to love it. The only negative is it’s heavy to pickup off the ground but riding is fantastic front end is light like 2 stroke more power than you’ll use in the dirt. Really good power on the street.

You'll love it. The '12 to '16 KTMs were designed from what KTM learned from the 'Bergs- shock laydown, mass centralisation, injection, etc, but they still weren't as good- particularly as yours has the closed cartridge forks and way more grunt than the early 500s. Plus the fact that the bent 'Bergs will be/ maybe aleady are collectable. Get it going- clean injector and filters, new lithium battery, flush out tank, fresh fuel, off it will go.

Update,
I have sent the fuel injector off to be cleaned
I have fuel filters on order
I am rebuilding the throttle body that was frozen shut.
I am rebuilding fuel hose connections from the main tank to a tank in the subframe...
This bike has a fuel tank in the subframe...I read that they are not produced anymore. Damn. Anyhow, I need to source the white plug that fits in the tank on the right side, it looks like a aux fill port. Does anyone know the size of the plug, or where. I can buy one? I found the small red stopper in the tank and had to fish it out. Does anyone know where it belongs? The bigger red plug I'm just gonna wrap with PTFE tape and reuse. IMG_2574.jpgIMG_2575.jpg
