I fought the law (and the law DIDN'T win!)

Some of you may have read my earlier tale of woe, concerning a cowboy CHP officer citing me for absolutely EVERY vehicle code under the sun (the jerk ran out of room on the ticket) recently due to me riding my FS650C motard bike up and down the street in front of my house. (I live on a residential street that might see 25 cars all day) Anyway, this guy went way beyond "just doin his job" and not only cited me but even though I was my usual co-operative polite self verbally harassed and abused me, even threatening to impound my bike "forever" and then attempted to walk into my garage to look at my other bikes. Only after I threatened (never a good idea to threaten a Chippie kids....) to shoot/sue him for warrantless search did he back down. Well yesterday I had my day in court, and after he lied thru his teeth about what I allededly done, did I get to have MY say. And all I had to say was, "your honor, you will please note that the officer neglected to re-identify me before the court during his statement, as such I request dismissal of ALL charges! The judge paused for a moment and told the Chippie, "he's correct, you didn't, case dismissed, charges dropped." Needless to say said officer was pissed, and you know he's gonna be lookin' for me but oh well.....Score one for the little guys! (New law in California, the officer MUST re-identify the defendant before the court during his opening statements, if not you have him on an un-contestable technicality.) :D

My wife keeps asking why all the licence plates for my (street) bikes are on the garage wall instead of on the respective bikes...... 8O

Score 1 for the little guy.

Unfortunately you didn't have a chance to have your side of the story told.

Mister CHP might hold a grudge and take it upon himself to hover around your street hoping for another shot at you. Keep your eyes open and congrats on you win in court.

Was he a motorcycle cop?

I would understand a Baker or a Poncherello having to ride an old pig of a Kawasaki the entire day and dying of jealousy when they see what you get to ride.

Seriously, I think the cop had been very unhappy so far with mx kids running away from him all the time and this time he finally get to corner one of these "dirt bike punks" and he vented his frustration at you, BUT he has to calm down and not harass the taxpayer (and employer).

Out here in AZ, my son got pulled over a couple times while riding and told nicely to push his bike back home and even when I showed up to pick him up all the cops did was give us a verbal warning. But he was Mesa PD, not Maricopa. Still, different state, different attitude. Dirt bikes and ATVs are part of the landscape, here.

Not counting the time they sent the chopper  funny story I'll tell it around the fire at the next force ride.

I usually have no problems with traffic cops, their just doin their job, and when I get nicked,, I take it like a man knowing there were 1000 times I didn't get caught. This boy was the 5% who are on a power trip, and probably became traffic cops because A) Mommy didnt love them enough or B) He' (or she's) convinced the Glock makes their package look bigger....Reading him like a book, I'm sure he'll go out of his way to pass by my street all in the intrest of saftey and justice.......

Fantastic!

I once had a teacher who told me he got away from paying a speeding ticket in N.M. Once in court he simply asked for calibration certificate and data for the particular radar gun used...
It´s like you say though, we´re all a little guilty when it comes to traffic...
But when you cross path with an officer like that, who wants to pay?
