and Hawaii and whoever else does not get to celebrate DAY LIGHT saving :D for us its the start of the real riding season Ya-hoo 8O
Let the druid sacrifices begin

Arizona might not be on the daylight savings program but they do have the distinct advantage of much less rain & snow and can probably enjoy riding all year long. One big downside is when the temperature hits 110f, phew!

As supertireguy mentioned, Arizona has the distinct advantage of all year long riding with the exception of June, July, and August when the temps sore up into the upper 110's and sometimes the lower 120's.

End of April/beginning of May is optional as the sun starts pounding down about 10:00am until about 4:00pm so early rides are more common. Same thing in Sept & Oct.

I wouldn't say we have all year riding because around May-Sep allot of the riding areas get closed down due to fire hazards/restrictions as most summers are considered a "Drought" in our neck of the dessert. Besides, when you can ride and its over 100, it feels like your 6" in front of a hair dryer! :eek:nfire: Needless to say, a filled camelpack is your greatest asset when riding in Az....

Regards  ,

Dude, I am definitely riding in the summer, I have to make up for the riding time I missed due to my injury!

relax ...the point of the post was to remind those of us who have daylight saving to adjust your clocks

what does 'daylight saving' mean?

we change the clocks in europe on the last saturday night of october and march. we do it officially at 3am.

i remember back in '69 when we stayed with summer hours and i went to school in the pitch dark but at least after school we had daylight till about 5.15pm. now every winter we have darkness at 4-4.15pm in december.

Taffy the idea was to have more daylight for the time people are out and about during normal hours. Hence in springtime spring forward 1 hour and in the fall go back 1 hour. In springtime you loose a hour of sleep when the clocks spring forward 1 hour. I think the time change is basically for the same reasons. Hope this helps

didn't we just say the same thing? whatever!!!1

but you're all talking about it thisd morning? for us it was last weeekned?

8O 8O Daylight savings is part of a conspiracy between energy companies and the clock-makers! Without this, I would never need an alar clock. It's mind control, I tell 'ya! .......oh, wait, wrong forum...

Here's some pretty good info on DST. Looks as though our Ben Franklin, and a Britt had a lot to do with it!!

Sometimes I wish "they" wouldn't make us change the clocks. In my line of work, I work wheter it's light or dark. In the winter it seems like I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. About the only advantage for me is that I wake up with the birds no matter what on my days off, I can't seem to sleep once it's light outside. So, I guess that means I sleep a little later in the summer time. Although, I still wake up everyday @ 0500 b/c that's what time I usually get up.

Since we are having a "time" discussion here, here is a trivia question.
Who was the man who came up with and implemented the concept of greenwich mean time and dividing the world into time zones? What was the incentive for this ?

His name was mr ZULU, and it was done so that you can fly your Cessna around the Four Corners states in the summer and still know what the heck time it is in Nevada... I think.

More Than Once Confused :D

Anyone living in this area can testify to the confusion during DST.

close Aspen,it was introduced a little earlier than the cessna age.Its first introduction in north america was in the early hours of nov.18,1883.

:D time to end this thread till oct.

In 1845 a young surveyor from scotland immigrated to Quebec canada. He gained employment in the railway in the period of transcontinential expansion and gained his civil engineering degree. As chief engineer for the intercontentental railway which reached from the Atlantic ocean to the Pacific Ocean he found setting train shedules to be a nightmare as each town and city was on their own time clock.Sanford Fleming invented what he called standard time, which divided the world into 24 equal time zones,so he could create a viable train shedule. With the support of the head of the US weather service he petitioned the British Govt to use GMT as the starting point as they had created a system of standard time in britain for their trains some years earlier. He was Knighted by Queen Victoria in 1897 and was given the title as the" Father of standard time"
Sir Sanford Fleming 1827-1915

Strangely enough there is a party every nite at the "Dateline Hotel " in Nukualofa ,Kingdom of Tonga as they celebrate the start of the worlds new day.
