Hussa war wound below....
Have got the starter clutch repair kit from Taffy, and have just purchased a 1999 R6 starter motor.
Will get the starter clutch slippage issue fixed first, then I'll have a go at the R6 starter motor fitting myself.
Looks like I need only get some longer attachment bolts and spacers to fit the R6 motor??
Cypher (or anyone else who might know), looking at this previous post (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8238&start=15), is this all that is needed to fit the R6 motor, i.e. no drilling at other end etc as referenced in the users manual for the CBR, ( Discovered by Scully, the CBR600 starter motor was first tried byefore the R6 was discovered (Ned37) to be quicker turning. It's stronger than the OEM item and fits straight in from the outside EXCEPT that the mounting bracket has to be fitted from the later model ('05 plus) or the original modified (Ned37)see the photo below. The back of the starter must be drilled and then carefully shimmed up to sit squarely in the engine case. This is very important, early tests show an 8.5mm spacer should be used. Loonyberg fitted the Honda starter and it was really easy!.)?
