husabergs' weights ?

In viewing through Husaberg's webcite, I'm really shocked to see the weights that are specified for their bikes. I believe they maybe on the light side, or am I wrong? The Enduro FE450E states a mear 109kg, or 109X2.2= 239.8 Lbs. That's almost 10 Lbs. lighter than the KTM 450 EXC. Are the weights true?

Poundage

On Monday, we'll be weighing in with the following manufacturers:

Honda
Yamaha
KTM
Husqvarna
Gas-Gas
Sherco
TM

for the Dirt Rider 24 hour 450 enduro bike torture test.
If I have internet access, I'll post updates, and you can bet that we'll be paying close attention to weights. If ours is not the lightest bike out there, I'll be quite surprised.

Cheers,

Brett Saunders

My supermoto 650 2004;

weight; with DOMA and fully fild up and battery; 126kg.-127kg

without battery -3kg

competition weight;little fuel and battery; 121-122kg
is quite a lot but it very handly, almost riding a bicycle.

Also pushing the bike in the pits my girlfriend is more happier with this bike than my former bike(Honda XR 680,Comp weight 134-135kg)

There has been some questionable integrity in the past regarding "facts" such as weight by journalists. The weigh in results in a few test I have seen have been just mind boggling!!!! Opinions on performance are subjective and it can be expected that well prepared bikes (by importers, especially if large advertising $$'s are spent) will rate higher than bikes w/o prep. As many know I am a long time TM fan, I can tell you that the tests that were performed when a advertising add was taken out were better than those w/o an add. Sad but true. Thanks Brett for putting all this effort into 'bergs and helping to improve the public image of the "noble steed".

Thanks guys for the replies. So I'm taking it that the weights actually are heavier than what is specified by the Mfg....

Re: Poundage

Isn't the only difference between the FE450, 550 and 650 in the stroke length and the stickers on the side? So why oh why is there any difference in the weights of all three, in that link above? Very very confusing...

The crank is bigger and heavier for the 550 and 650.

Manufacturers usually advertize "dry weight". Fluids and fuel add several pounds.
