Hey guys,

I actually have a quick question, and this is a good place to put it...

Fork oil? Is *********** oil required, or any 5W fork oil okay? Okay to mix with other brands?

-Parsko

Great chart to post!!! Might be good to put in the downloads section...

Since it is oil density (2.5w, 5w, 7w...) we are concern with, any quality brand would do fine. I really don't like the idea of mixing brands of oil. But the mixing of fork oils would not do any internal damage.

Do I gather that a 210 lbs (95 kg) enduro rider would need the 48W spring shock with oil up to 110 mm?

Will 92 N/m be enough on the PDS? The .0007 spring shock seems to be a big jump from the .0005.

Nick

i run a .46 spring and also weigh 210LB's. i have a 125mm gap and that needs to go to 115mm this week.

For Enduro, it appears the Fork spring would be a 4.4N/mm and the rear Shock spring is 84N/mm. The Fork oil level or air gap is the 'quick fix' to fine adjustment on suspension. Whether soft or alittle harsh befoe bottoming.

1. Determine first whether you have the correct springs front and rear. Start with the shock spring and study the procedures for setting the Race Sag and if your out of the specification range then go to the next correct spring size.

Once you have correct spring size and still need more suspension adjustments...

2. Change shim stacks and revalve. How much damping you need depends on how hard you ride. When I first got my 550 (stock suspension) and launch it on a table top; I about broke my knees as I cleared the down ramp and landed flat. There are many shops to choose from MX Tech, Race Tech....
As I have discovered, not many have a strong knowledge with Husaberg suspension, Forks-yes, Rear shock-somewhat.

The 48N/mm shock spring is correct. The oil level will depend on how the forks bottom, is it harsh in the last 76mm to 100mm of travel, or does it bottom too fast and pops the front end into the air? This more of a individual adjustment. The higher oil level the more stiffer/harsh.

The 48N/mm shock spring is correct

read again!

the .46 spring is correct for trail and enduro for a 210LB rider like le frog and myself. i should know! i have that set up!

I feel Taffy is correct. I weigh a 215lbs/97kg with gear and mud I/m pushing 230 lbs/ 104kg MY 02FX470E was up graded to a 4.8 and a PDS 4 if I remember correctly. I feel that I might have gone one size to stiff with my spring rates. The 4.6 / PDS 5 might have given me a bit plusher ride for my style of riding. (Tight woods, slippery roots mud. Deep endless very loose sandy whoops) Good luck lets beat this topic up a bit!

The WP chart above was for the Straight Rate 250mm spring length and not the Progressive 260mm spring.8O
see ya
