I have been having issues with my 2007 Husaberg FE 450. These issues are making me question whether I should sell it for a more reliable bike. I was wondering if these issues can be easily fixed or if I am better off selling and getting a more reliable street bike.
I bought the bike used from a dealer with just under 300 miles.
The first issue is that the electric start will not work. This is not a huge deal since I can just kick it. But If the bike is hot it will not want to start again even with hot start.
The second issue is that the bike purged coolant yesterday on my ride. I was going about a max speed of 30 mph in no traffic in 1st and 2nd gear and then I idled for about 30 seconds and a cloud of steam erupted from under the seat. This steam was followed by a puddle of green coolant under the bike. After this happened I took the bike to a mechanic to make sure the bike is safe to ride. The bike is still in the shop.
I want to be able to use this Husaberg as a supermoto but it is not reliable. I dont know if the bike can be made into a reliable supermoto, or if I am better off selling and getting a reliable machine.
Is there anything that could be done to make it more reliable? Are these issues common? Should I get a different bike?
Thanks everyone
