Husaberg running problem

Hi I recently brought a 2010 450 FE HUSABERG with oem map switch fitted.
It had the dreaded fuel pump issue and I fitted a new cycle work fuel pump.

I now have another problem. Since changing be pump I go out on the trail ride for most of day the bike is great then after around 6 hours of riding the bike starts to stall. It will not re start straight away and sometimes has a small back fire. When re start I ride for a few yards and then stalls again. I then again I have to sit there trying to re start. On tick over it idles and then dies. If I get on to the road and can open up it's fine but and soon as I stop it idles for a few seconds and stalls. This is the second time this has happened now and always presents itself after riding for most of the day.
As you can imagine this is really annoying especially as the bike run great for most of the day.
Hope one of you guys can help. Thanks. Dave

I would start by checking all the fuel line connections in the tank and check the hose for splits. I had the same symptoms with my 2010 turned out to be a split hose.

Thanks for your reply. I don't think its a fuel leak as bike runs starts and runs fine from get go and for most of day. This has happened on the last two outings now. Start riding get to about 3pm in the afternoon and then starts to stall and will not start. Once started will run for a short distance and then dies. This is at all low speed. On the road no problem.
Driving me mad.

Just check it to be sure, it won't cost you anything. We all know the fuel tanks in these bikes heat up and could soften the rubber tubing, your call, dunno?

Fuel tank is when you start. At 3PM how low is the tank or do refill at that time ?

Also swap the 5 micron fuel filter to a 10 micron, as Jon Anderson has mentioned that can swell when hot and reduce duel flow.

Hi rainerio.
By the time this problems starts I have refueled the tank. No issues on first tank full, bike ran fine. I ran it until fuel warning light came on before refuelling for the afternoon ride. The fuel pump is running as I can hear it when I push start button.
A friend says it may be spark plug breaking down. Could this happen??? Run for most of day and then starts failing??? I've had another suggestion of injector could be the issue.
The real head scratcher is that the bike runs faultless all day and then decides to start stalling late in the day and is a problem to re start.
I think it doesn't like when I start to head home!!!!!!

Don't think it's the spark plug but replace anyway. Also check the coil wire and spark plug cap someone said to look at that point (the cap) in the dark looking arcing (not good) If it was the injector I would think it do it all day not just at the end of the day. Look at pump and hoses the connections. Most of what I wrote is just guessing

Your symptoms sound identical to what I had on my 2012 FE570 at just 50hrs. Turns out utwas a dud spark plug cap (a known issue according to the local UK Ktm/Hb dealer). The bike would run fine until it got really wet, then it would stall at low speed or idle and backfire like yours. Probably worth checking on your 450 if you haven't already.

It Is the tank breather. Clean it with wd 40 and make sure it rattles when you shake it. I had this exact problem. Petrol flowed from hose when i checked so I went down the spark route. The give away was when it happened I quickly unscrewed the fuel cap and heard the air rush in. Once fixed I notice not only did the cut out problem go away but general performance went back to how it should be. Don't anyone underestimate this tip!?

I had the same problem on my 2010 FE450 and took that darn ball out. Problem went away.

Had same problem and went down the plug route that seemed to work but the real problem is the tank breather! By the time you check the fuel line it flows, so instead quickly unscrew the cap and if you hear air sucking in, there you have it. Bike goes much better with this "main" jet fixed. Not many long time dirt bike riders would admit this basic thing but there you have it. Don't tell Taffy?

Hi sorry in delay getting back. I checked the breather pipe and cleaned and all seemed ok.
I think FredE hit the nail on the head. I always give the bike a good dosing of WD40 after cleaning. I think this was hiding the cause. I got a spray bottle and sprayed water around all electrics to eliminate an electrical problem, when I sprayed around spark lead and plug the bike stalled.
So all been replaced and going to take out for a try. I'll let you know how goes. Thanks for all the advice.

updates??

Any updates on this?
Curious as I have been chasing a similar issue, only my FX450 dies on 3/4-Full throttle, only after it's been warmed up, and only in race scenario.
I've replaced the fuel pump, filters, plug cap, cleaned the injector, etc.
Have ordered a new ignition coil and pulse coil, as I suspect it's the plug wire/coil at this point.
Any info appreciated.
