Husaberg game over

My Husaberg game is over,

I sold my 2002 400FE after the counter balancer crashed.. (everything else broke at the same time)

The Berg was the best to drive, compared to all of my previous bikes, but it was also the most unreliable and the parts were too expensive and hard to get.. (as You all know)

Going back to Japanese 2-strokes

Without husaberg.org i would given up much earlier. Thank You.

If you are going back to two strokes, I find
that KTMs are more durable. The Suzukis
were the worst, the Hondas the best of the
Japanese bikes.

Mika,

sorry to hear you have had a bad run. i too had a lot of 'berg troubles and ran back to a 2 stroke.

it seems as though a berg can't be ridden hard regularly, but those who are a little more forgiving and are keen mechanically, do have good runs and 200+ hours on an engine.

so til i get wise and slow down a bit, i'm gonna keep holding my 2 stroke wide open and spend my nights relaxing rather than fixing!!!!!

i do miss the berg tho, and i'm guessing there will be another one in my future!!!!!

good luck with your next bike

Have Fun
Jeff

Hi,

Yes, i did and the cam was much better than the old one, i felt that i could drive 1 gear bigger with it.

But 10 hours after replacing the cam the counter balancer crashed.

Normally i drive at woods, but that time i went to special test of Finnish World Rally Championships (Rally of the Thousand Lakes, special test Ouninpohja, You might have heard about it). The best cars drive there average speed about 130 km/h. And that was too much for my 80 hours run counter balancer bearing.

everyone who loves rallying has heard of that one. you had some balls just having a go at it!

If that is a Lineweaver cam I would sell
the bike with the OEM cam and offer the
good cam for sale here. The 400 is usually
the most dependable of the Husabergs.
Did the balancer have the double bearings?

Change of bike it also have passed in to my mind but I can´t find any replacement for my Berg.
1st. for my type of rides, with a 2 stroke I have to carry a fuel pump on my shoulders;
2nd. KTM's are vey unstable on the front end and with one I ride all the time begging to Jesus to carry my front wheel.
3rd. Jap bikes are so trusty than Bergs. I related a situation with a friend who bought a brand new Honda CRF 250X. To get some power from the bike he had to tune up the carburator. Now after some 1000 kms. he had some problems whit the oil, the engine loose the oil by gaskets by seals etc. etc. Ok the bike starts very fine but...
4th. I can't find a so very handling bike like Husaberg.

My Berg is a FE501E from 2001. Since I have the bike and it has 10.000 kms on it's belly the only problem I had was the stator.
Probably the new models don't give any troubles with the ignition.
