Husaberg frames...

The picture shows a 00-02 frame and NOT a -99 frame.
And yes they are almost all the same frames from 00-08 with some changes in steering angle from -04.

Jampe

if i'm reading the frame number right its a 2002 fe501 frame. Though what i think is the year numbers are a bit messed up.

Jampe,
I thought the frame change was 2001 with steering head change in 2004.
The Doc also states that 2002 was the second year of the engine version which would
seem to confirm this.

Hej.
They had the old beutiful engine and the old style svingarm on the "new" frame -00 witch was the last year for that engine and the old swingarm.
01 was the first year of the new engine style witch they had to -08

Hi
there are some differance in frames through the years
00 is on its own since it had the old engine and swing arm and shock
01-02 think geometry same as 00 but with new engine swingarm, different shock betwen the model years
03-06 stepper fork angle, shock laid down slightly a few mm
07-08 5mm taller fork (same as KTM ) and I think skock is laid down few mm best handling chassi of bunch
later VIKING

Does anyone know if the shock from later years, prefferable 07-08 work in the 00 frame with modified shock tower? I have access to welders and plan to take bike apart this summer for either nickel plating the frame or repainting it.

Hakan
dont remember in detail if the upper mount is the same but I think so, it is the swingarm thats the difference
dont care for 07 shock in stock form rebound is horrible
I have an 05 FE for sale if you are interested
Later VIKING

Did anyone else notice the way in which the number was stamped? Looks like the bloke who stamped it had a quick 9 Schooners of VB beforehand? :confused2:
The number "3" on the end is even backwards????

01-03 geometry was the same. 2004 was the first year of the steeper steering angle. I don't think they ever changed the top shock mount Per?

that fork change was the in 2005 or 6 I think as well. it copied the KTM fork.

best thing you can do to a 2004-2008 is change to 18/20 offset clamps. awesome!

Well Taffy
03 frames are not same as 01-02 you can beileve what you want but husaberg engineers said other wise
and that was the first year for front wheel hitting header pipe halfway through 04 model they switched header
as for the forks do some research you will find that fork rod is 5mm longer on 07-08 compared to older forks
aside from being a different diameter
cheers I think you need one of them Newcastle brown ale later VIKING

2003 bikes had 28.5* rake or caster as they call it in the owners manual. 2004 is when they went to the 27* rake. I know, I have one, BMG was the N/A importer at the time, and I dealt directly with "jedi" to get the correct header sent to me.

2004 was also the first year of Austrian production, Kehin carb, and Kokusan ignition.

the way I see this, there are only 3 choices
A. The Husaberg engineer lied to my face
B. I have a vivid imagination, my dreams became reality
C. Misprint
you make logical choice

I'll choose A.

your experience with Husaberg engineers must be polar opposite than mine based on your selection
but I can assure that the experience that I and people that I associate with have had a very
helpful and honest experience with Husaberg and its employees

yes viking is right of course, 07 08 forks are indeed longer although not as long as mine

fwiw the shock mount of my 06 wreak was a tad lower than my 08 but I don't know if that was entirely intentional or not.

Taffy and bushmechanic
there are other small details that are different in the forks betwen Husaberg and KTM one thing
I remembered was the midvalve spring much lighter spring in the husaberg fork there where some other
small details but I cant remember what they where
06 and older forks are 8mm shorter

later VIKING

yes the MV spring in 07 and 08 was a return to the stiff one.. .nasty

cartridge tube in 07 08 also longer (together with the rod)
