Hi all, new to the forum and have just purchased a fe501 2002. Been told by the guy I bought it off he thinks the timing chain may be one or two teeth out, top end is opened up and I am just wondering what the best way to attack seeing if there’s any problems with it and checking the timing chain, any advice would be appreciated, thanks

Look in my links. on facebook I do a video of where the true TDC is and how you should mark it.

attached are three photos.
remark your flywheel with a new white line equadistant to the right of the first two.

get the white line then, under the screw hole.

now look at the lobes, they should be like mickey mouses ears. forget the lower half of the drawing as it is for another engine but imagine Mickey Mouse over the white line on the flywheel in front of the screw hole.

if wrong, turn the engine looking for a split link, if no split link you'll have to break the chain.

cheers

Taffy
