Hi Taffy,
Finally I found a guy here in Phoenix Arizona to help me with the motor of my FE470 2001,
Ken never contacted me back so I am taking apart the motor. I am going to need a few parts, I am ot sure if I going to need the cranckshaft assembly or the piston rings, but I am sure I a need the seals and gaskets kit to put the motor back together. The mechanic suppose to let me know at the end of the week. Do you sell parts for this bike?
Thanks
Ed

yes mate, everything in stock.

ask him to;
1) slap the crank and try and get an axial float figure.
2) gap between top of piston and head - on the edge - at 3 and 9 o clock. in other words; the squish clearance?

you only really need paper gaksets, O rings and water pump seal. all the other seals will outlive you.

shame about Ken. I think he spent too much time here years ago and its gone the other way now.

cheers

Taffy

Question about cranckshaft balancer setup

Hello Taffy,
I am working on my FE 470 motor using the parts I got from you a few months ago, I am finishing with the crankshaft. I saw the mark in the balancer drive shaft but I don’t have any mark on the balancer gear to align. Do you know how can I align the balancer gear to the balancer drive that has a mark on it?

Hello!
The balancer has a dot inside the V between two teeth. in the meantime the back of the water pump gear (also better known as the intermediate gear) has a dot on a tooth as well, a male tooth. when you're done the felt tipped line on the outside will flash past a second dot more infield on the back of that gear. Some bikes don't have tghe second dot. to aid putting it together I put a blob of grease in the bottom of the V and felt tip the top edge.

the dot infield should try and go behind the balancer just as the felt-tipped line flashes by.

cheers

Taffy
