Husaberg FE/FS 650 Info

Hi

Im planing to buy a motorcycle and im looking at a Husaberg FE 650 2005 for 45000 NOK. It have drived 12000km, have SM wheels and electric starter.
Its a nice bike with blue DC plastic with no cracks or rifts in plastic and decals.
Good tires and brake pads. :D

So my question is, How is this bike for that price?

And, is there any problems with these bikes? engine problems?
How is the service intervals? valve adjustments? oil changes?

And since this bike is a FE with SM wheels, is there any difference in the brakes og suspension?
bigger brake discs? diffrent calipter?

Iv heard the FS is stiffer, is it just adjustments or is it diffrent suspension?

Thanks for answear

Sorry for bad english

greetings from Norway!:):)

U.S. $5,500 in case anyone is curious.

That's a fair price for the U.S., and a good price for Norway I think...
But only if it's road licensed and well maintained.

Ask the seller to explain how to change the oil and check the valves.
If you get a dumb look, ask to see the receipts for maintenance.

Bought my 2004 with 160 hrs on the engine and full Akra system for 3000€/3,295$, but then again it was the cheapest one in Finland at the time.

The intervals are, for me, quite tight; 5hr oil changes, 15hr valve check.

I havent had any problems with it so far and I really love it, total beast!

A few things my man

First up, its an expensive buy. These bikes are cheap because they break down often and maintenance is high- I paid just under $4000 AUD for mine and I have a mate who bought 2 for less than $5000. Use that as a bargaining point.

Engine issues are many.

Given its a 2005 you are pretty safe from main bearing issues, however 12000kms is quite a bit- mine is on its second rebuilt at 19000kms. You want to factor in top end work at least.

Valve springs.

If it doesnt have dual valve springs, then factor in the cost of replacing them. The difference is night and day, and its not a matter of if they break- they will break. I did mine for $220 AUD including head gasket and cam chain. After they broke.

Oil changes every 500km + inspection of magnet and screen.

Valve adjustments every 15hrs, but mine havent moved in a long while.

The FE version has very washy dirt suspension as you'd expect. The factory Supermoto (FS) is equipped with different and much stiffer suspension, Beringer radial caliper + 320mm disk.

If you arent mechanically capable then forget about it. If you are, then its the best bike you'll ever own. Just about everything that spins on my bike has broken at least once. My 2c.

With that many km's I would expect to pay a little less.
I bought my 2008 FS650 for R35 000, which translates to about $3000 US, with about 4000km on it. I think it was at about 50 hours.

Now I have to admit that I was riding it wide open 98% of the time, rarely going under 160km/h, which I suppose is why I only got 140hr an 12 000km before the bigend started making a horrible noise and I had to strip the engine. I changed my oil 3 times a week, mondays, wednesdays and fridays. Oil filter every 2 weeks. I traveled about 80km to work and back every day.

Just keep in mind, that you won't know how the bike was used by the previous owner.
It would be very sad if you were to buy that bike and it broke down after only 2000km or so, in which case you may think that HusaberG is a crap bike. Which it is not. Many people get 200-300 hr on the engines, without problems. But I do believe that they don't ride like hooligans, which I did. Still, I was Impressed that the engine lasted as long as it did, compared to to other bikes which barely get 100hr with normal riding.

Maybe ask someone who knows HusaberG to have a look at the bike and give their opinion.
