Hi guys, im the proud owner of a Husaberg FE501 2003 model. I have no spark and my starter motor is not turning the motor over, it's making a slipping noise and then grabbing every now and then, I removed the starter motor and the teeth seem to look fine. I have tested the coil and can confirm this has power. How do I test the starter motor and will this prevent the bike from sparking? I've tried kick starting and still I have no spark? I am wondering if it might be the two internal gears that turn the crankshaft as I have found fine steel fragments on the sump bolt. Can anybody plz help me with this before I loose my mind, thank you.

I would say it isn't a starter problem. I'd say it is the sprague clutch. I would think no spark is the stator. If you go to the owners docs link on the home page and read through it will tell you how to test your stator and give you info on checking/repairing your sprague.

agreed, sounds like the classic sprague problem
as far as the no spark thing, i would also test the stator with the doc info, it gives the ohms/resitanc specs there, it could be somethingobvious but it sounds like you have cheecked all that, the stator reisstance test will tell you if its good or bad quickly.........

Thanks for your advice so far. I've had a look at the stator and I have to post a photo of what I have found! So any ideas where I can get a reasonably priced new stator??

where are you from one-touch?
there are two of us in the UK reconditioning them. Kris and myself. there is also a company named Electrex selling Chinese micky mouse ones. if you can keep the right cover dry (few can - everyone tries) then you can get a few years out of them but they produce unsolicited voltage and knock out about 1 in 5 to 1 in 8 ignition modules. if the cover is even moist they'll go fairly quickly - like a year. they usually advertise a kind of zenor diode in the next advert on ebay which puts a ceiling on the Voltage. (BTW, electrics aren't my strong point, I just pick stuff up)
whatever you do, don't through an original stator away WHOEVER READS THIS because one day we'll need them all. same goes for ignition modules, knackered or not WE'LL NEED THEM.

Hi there old mate.!! first thank u so much 4 you'r know abouts in regard 2 my bike problem.I'm in Aus by the way . Q.. I found the magnets broken in side,can these magnets be replaced or do I have 2 change the whole piece ??
Yeah sorry mate... Flywheel is stuffed. I'm just looking at one on eBay, are 02 & 03 model parts compatible? Your advice would be appreciated. Cheers

iv just read your post and it would help if you could post a pic . how badly damaged is your stator ?
if it is beyond repair then i have many complete units freshly rewound on my shelf that i can supply , but lets cross that bridge when we come to it . firstly post up a pic so we can ***** the damage .
also about your flywheel you should be able to find 1 on ebay or maybe taffy has 1 to sell you ? or you could even try dave clarke as he has lots of spares aswell .
