I have an FC501 registered in 2000, this has a failed big end and getting a new one has so far been impossible.

I would like to know if another engine's would drop in to the frame with little or no fabrication.

The rest of the bike is in good shape so a shame to have to scrap it.

You can purchase the entire crankshaft assembly.

H21007501
CRANKSHAFT CPL. FE,FC 500 00-
superceeded by H21014101
$582.74

Or the Pin 210-004-01 $89.73
Bearing 210-065-01 $68.93

But the rod appears to have been discontinued.

Taffmeisters does not have a rod kit for this one yet but may have one any day now. It would be worth giving him a call.

Fine a decent crank assembly on e-bay and replace the pin and bearing?
Or get out your credit card, order a new crank assembly and if you are lucky you order may get filled.

I've been sending people to a company in Germany called Lanza Road. they put a hardened steel ring inside the big end of the actual rod itself and then you get a new pin, bearing and little end.

in the meantime I'm trying to get sensible quotes to have a batch made.

regards

Taffy
