Hope someone can help me, with the valve timing set up, need to know where to line up timing marks, just bought this bike as a non runner, found the timing tensioner guide has come adrift, nut come off broke the rocker cover and possibly knocked out timing as it won't start.
Thanks in advance
Not sure if it's an FC/FE don't know if this will make a difference,
Six speed
Cheers

Work Shop manual woUldnt down load, found two lines on the spy hole generator side, and two centre punch marks on cam shaft sprocket, I think it might go 3, o'clock 9 o clock on the cam shaft, but not sure if it's the first line or second line

all the manuals download fine for me

its says "the ignition is properly set if the right mark on the flywheel is aligned with the mark on the stator"

I assume they mean right hand mark not the left hand mark

cam yes 3 and 6

Hello there I need some help before this bike breaks my leg I have had it started all sounds sweet but getting it started is a challenge all I seem to get is a lot of kick back and it is herting me now can some one tell me what i'm doing! I done tappit clearance and new stator from taff it's had new exhaust valves carburetor cleaned ignition timing iv had every were help

You didn't post how you go about starting it. I'm thinking you probably have a delorto carb. Here is how I go about starting my 01. Ignition off, gas cocks on. Kick through five times while holding in manual decomp. Some people turn the throttle for this. Ignition on, choke on, kick slowly to get to tdc. When you find it pull in the decomp and move the kicker another inch or so. Let the kicker come back up an give it a mighty kick. Should start. I've found out the hard way to never give it throttle while kicking. It will almost always kick back. I also NEVER try to start it without motocross boots on.

Yes iv got motor x boots if it kicks me back once more i'm going to kick the **** out of it.Tried kicking it over 5 times with choke on and kill switch on, and then getting into Tds then pushing just past that point then letting her have it, sometimes choke is on sometimes off, I haven't got a decompression lever on handlebar it's been taken off, only got auto decompression on kick start, tried this procedure and 9/10 times it will kick me back, can get it started eventually but takes countless times of kicking it, wondering if it's carburetor issue, I was told it had been jetted maybe this could be the problem? Any suggestions greatlyreceived thanks
