Husaberg 5 speed

hi all

I recently bought a Husaberg fc550 .. it has a 5 speed gearbox
i heard that these machine comes standard with a 4 or 6 speed gearbox... what i wanna know is : is this a special custom made gearbox (the machine is owned by former champion Jacky Martens from Belgium) or .. is it a standard 6 speed gearbox with one gear removed ? it also has WP suspension `at front and rear... is that optional ? i tought they come standard with Ohlins suspension.

and my last question .. i mounted a titanium FP exhaust system .. should i change the carb settings?.. cause it had a standard exhaust on it when i bought the bike .. and since i broke my leg a few weeks ago , i wasnt able to make a test ride so i dont realy know how the bike reacts on this system .

welcome!

only question i can answer is the suspension one, the WP forks and shock are stock, stock on all husabergs

the jetting on your bike SHOULD be ok, but it never hurts to jet...but i dunno which adjustments to make for your bike

Hello Joe,

I think I know you from a Dutch forum also, but from the time your KTM blew up 8)
The bike you are talking about, was it recently posted on a sales website? If so then I know the owner and the bike was indeed prepared by JM. But I don't know exactly what was inside only that the bike ran very good.

after severall problems with the KTM i decided to buy me a Husaberg

good choise right ?..

anyways , the problems with the KTM where fixed a few months ago , and it runs great eversince (I replaced the EXC cylinder and cylinderhead by the SX version) .

More than likely the bike that you have recently acquired only has the sixth gear missing in it. The FC bikes were designed as motorcross bikes and in this type of riding you will rarely if ever get into fifth or sixth gear. Many factory riders have removed these gears in order to save weight in the bike.
Now, it is possible that because JM was the previous owner of the bike that he has some super top secret gearing in the bike but the only way to find out is to tear it apart and have a look-see!
Anyhow, you should be able to get your hands onto a sixth gear and drop it in the next time the case is open and you will have FC550/6.

I will help you with your gearbox: first gear is removed and the other gears are standard, i know because my friend works at JM and i've been there a few times and i have also at 5 speed, first is only good to idle through the pits. 6th gear and wide open is fun in a beachrace as we know in Holland.
