Husa-brothers,
I want to remove my keyed ignition swithch on my 03 fe400e. I've disassembled everything, read through my wiring diagrams and searched here. there are 4 wires going to the switch. Which combination to I connect them in with the key switch removed? I want to keep my full battery/starter/light system runnng.
Thanks, Aaron

The key switch has 2 positions.

In the off position it does the following:

1. It connects the BN and OG wires, grounding out the Ignition module so the engine will not run.

2. It disconnects the RD wire from the RD/Y wire, preventing the lights from being turned on.

So, if you remove the key switch you need to connect the RD and the RD/Y wires.

Leave the BN and OG wires disconnected.

Just make sure you have the light switches turned off when you have the bike parked or you will run down the battery. If you add any other accessory powered by the bike battery, you will need to turn it off also.

I have added page 34 of the 03 Owners Manual as an attachment. You need Adobe Reader to open it. You can get Adobe Reader free at www.adobe.com

JoeUSA,
Thank you very much. The wiring diagram i have is a little different. I'll print that one out for the workshop.
