Hi. I removed my footpegs from my bike to send them to the painting shop because they look old. Now I can´t install them again I am having problems with the small spring. Is there any trick in mounting the footpegs againg.
Thanks for helping.

The way I have had some success.
Put the spring and peg in close to position slide a Phillips-head screwdriver though holes from the bottom to position it and to hold it. Slowly tap pin in from the top, while you holding the screw driver letting the pin push out the screw driver. That way the spring won't shot out and take your eye out.

A pair of pointy nose vice grips helped to some extent when i put my bike together, to compress the arms of the spring together a bit, but only helped a bit....

husa hoff's method withthe vice grips should help.

I like Husahoff's method.

The way I've done it is to compress the spring in a vise, grab it with a pair of needle-nose vise grips and then mount. Of course wear safety glasses in case the spring lets go.

The way I do it is simple and effective. Compress the spring in a pair of vise-grips; then then bend a short section of a metal coat hanger around the compressed spring, then remove the compressed spring from vise-grips and you're all set to go.

I put the spring in the footpeg mount without the peg and then put the pin in to hold it. I then use my vise-grips to squeeze the spring and put a zip tie on it. Remove the pin, install the footpeg and spring, push it together and cut the zip tie. Done and no spring flying around the garage.
