do you stop these Brembo brakes from squeeling?

I have it on my 01 650 front (Enduro brake setup) and on my 03 motard rear brake and not a single thing that I do stops it?

Anyone else had this problem and resolved it?

Many thanks,
Yours frustratedly,
Simon

it only happens on cars when little old ****** roll up to a stop and don't give the brakes a good stomp. could it be your doing this?

the pads glaze over. the cure is to out and absolutely give 'em hell!

the rears should have anti-squeel shims and i believe the front may have had them too.

i had it a bit when i used to ride likea tart but i then put in gold pads from ORO and that cured it.

how does it go simon?

Hi Simon,

Try using the automotive anti-squeel compound that is furnished with high quality after market brake pads. Lightly coat the back of the brake pad prior to mounting on the side of the caliper without pistons.

I don't have a constant squeel problem on my 2 Bergs, just an occassiona chirp. I have had to replace the sliding pin and pads on the front of my 2000 501 though because the pin hole in the pads wore as did the pin.

This was a gradual condition up to 10.000 miles.

Regards,

Joe

Nice one Taffy, yer winding me up  :D

Actually, there's no sign of it when braking like a tart but it's very bad when I come to a rolling stop with the front end dug into the ground and the rear wheel lofting in the air behind

Thanks Joe,

That's my normal procedure on the motard and I've done that on the "off-road" brakes too, with no improvement. I'll try some different grease and see how it goes.

Hey guys, I've had that problem as well. Some pads have a groove in the brake lining, this groove will fill with dirt over time. Remove the pads and clean the this groove out. Then after washing the bike, spray the rotor and pads down with brake cleaner, this will remove any oils from chain lube etc. or soaps from washing off the brakes. I follow this religiously and my brakes do not squeak any more. Hope this helps

I agree also the 2 pins that hold the pads can stick. I use some scouring pads and clean them real good (shiney) and then coat them just barely with a grease so the pads slide free back and forth. Good luck.

if all else fails clean up the pads and the caliper and put silicone sealer on the pad backs and stick them in there, works !

In addition to all the above deglaze the rotors with a medium strength degreaser like Simple Green and scrub with a Red Scotch Brite Pad or #00 Steel Wool.

Sand the brake pads lightly with 80 grit sandpaper to remove their glaze.

What compound pads are you runing? Sinteered/metallic pads have a tendency to squeal the worst. Try some soft, organic pads, especially on the SuMo where you don't see a lot of mud or wet sand.

I find I squeal the rear when racing desert and doing a lot of repeated hard breaking corner to corner. It only seems to happen when the brakes get real hot
Brakes dont seem to get hot when I am riding alone

I did this to my new FS650 running the motor in by getting on the rear brakes too hard initially. Turned the rotor blue & it squeeled like a stuck pig until I sanded the pads off & did the steelo pad on the rotor like Husabutt suggested. Very annoying though riding through town on your fine steed squeeling like a pig. It's a head turner, but for all the wrong reasons
