I was wondering what my revs will be if i put a 16tooth front and 48 tooth rear at 85km an hour? Any idea? and what do you think a comfortable cruising speed will be with a 16/48 tooth setup? i do a lot of highway driving and want to find a comfortable speed that doesn't stress the engine and where i can get some decent gas mileage. :D

thanks, frank

I have 15/48 on my 650 for a comfortable cruise at about 80 to 100 km.
but on a 550 don't know

regards

there must be a formula to figure out what the rpms will be at with a 16tooth front, 48 tooth rear. i just need the formula or graph--if one exists for a 550? at the very least, it would be interesting for everyone here to have an idea what their sprocket set-up is doing at designated speeds.

This file is set up for a 650 i think, don't know what to change for a 550.
but my guess is that you can figure that out.

Wow, the graph that the Force provided above allows you to put in any sprocket set-up and tire dimension. very fascinating! one quick question though: How did you figure out what the drive ratios are? or did you already fill in the blanks beforehand for a Husaberg 550?

Oops, never mind. now io see that you used your 650 gear ratios as an example. Thanks Force!

Thanks!!

Frank

I found this here on this site some time a go
I have not confirmed if its has the correct ratios whit a GPS since i don't own one.
but i have seen the correct numbers on my stock speedo.

regards

I guess the next question is this: Does anyone know the 1st thru 6th gear ratios for a 2008 550? Now that we have the excel sheet that does all the conversions for you, all i need to do now is fill in the blanks. I like it!!

you might find that in the bikes owners manual on husaberg.com
and here in the sites owner doc on the front page

I run a 16-48 on my 40 550,
looking after the engine on open roads I tend to sit around 75kmh, just enough up in the revs so its not lugging the motor I find.
I can get 180-200km out of a 9 litre tank at that sort of speed riding efficently.

The bike will still sit on 90-100kmh no problems,
about 155kmh top end according to the speedo with that gearing,

Hope that helps some.
