How far to push the bearing?

Hello,

I just installed a bunch of new engine bearings. One of the bearings gave me some trouble.

There is an ambiguous directive in the shop manual. It says to push the bearing until it is flush with the housing.... flush with the inside of the housing or outside of the housing?

I assumed that it should be flush with the OUTSIDE of the housing (since the clutch cylinder sits there). Please advise...

I didn't know how far to push this bearing:

flush with the outside

its pretty loose in my cases will probably move a bit when you put the cases together as well

or if you shove it in too far the shaft flange will push it back out when you put the cases together

put it on the shaft instead LOL
