How do I remove the Mainjet?

Boheme, I am assuming you still have the Dellorto on your 01. There is a bolt on the bottom of your carb, remove that and you can access the main jet, or remove the float bowl altogether.

ok.. I´ve seen that one.. if I understand you right its the bolt and not the screw that I use to remove it?

for the dell orto you need a 21mm spanner. use the open end and flip at you go to get your angles right. the floatbowl will fall off and petrol will go everywhere. not a big deal. a bit like blood "it'll be everywhere!".

once off you will just be able to see a MJ.

this is undone if i recall by a flat bladded short 'dumpy' screwdriver.

that is all there is too it.

if unfortunately you bring the atomiser with it, then undo the two, screw the itomiser back in and tighten really tight and then when you've changed the MJ, tighten that but less so!

Assuming it is a Dellorto, on the bottom of the float bowl is a quite large hex head which threads into the carb. Unscrew that hex head and the float bowl will come off. The main jet is at the center, and uses a large straight blade screwdriver to remove. I hope this is correct, just going by a somewhat faulty memory!

Done!

And it was like you said... and Taffy... I think I removed the Atomzer to... You couldn´t reach the other Jet if you didn´t... was that wrong?

Well afterall... the bike started first kick and ran smoothly... It has, for some time, been difficult to understand... sometimes start ok... and sometimes start, then die immediatly or 1-2-3-4 seconds later... like it did this morning...

That was when I decided to give the carb a cleanup... and for now it seems fine... we´ll see when I go for a proper ride... how it´ll behave...

By the way... how can you tell if need to change the FS? Miine had small marks in it... but otherwise it did not seem to be worn... the same thing with the MJ needle...no marks there... but... what things do I look for to know if it´s time for a change?

And, to all of you, as usuall... A big T!!!

if she stalls after 1-5 seconds you don't have a big enough choke jet, also the plug might be old. that's where you start. the needle will feel shot blast where it's had enough.

hold the atomiser up to the ceiling lght and lookinsde. if in doubt about it's true roundness - then change it for chrissakes!

if in doubt again - put the needle in and roll on the table - is there more light on one side than another area.

your FS shouldn't wear out? who told you that?

finally boheme, i said it first! :p

Ok..

But in my case... my first start after cleaning the carb... was first kick... and that was a long time ago she fired away like that... so maybe this time it wasn´t the chokejet, maybe there was some dirt there? The sparkplug is next to new.

Maybe next time I´ll take her for a ride the startingprocedure is back to normal...
that means.. a hell of a job to get her going...

YOU told me that Taffy... specificly check the FS for wear!!!

Sorry couldn´t resist it!

The Truth is!!!!
Probably I mixed up the need to change the FSscrew for external reason with that it should wear out...

When you describe the Atomizer I get confused of what I removed and cleaned... anyone got a pic???

I removed everything in the MJtube... the MJ, the thing that holds the MJ and something flat round under it and some things under that one...a round tube or something...with holes in it...

I had to remove the round flat thing to be able to remove, what I think is, the slowjet... right next to, slightly under the MJ... Anyone know what I´m talking about?

When I had removed, what I think is the Slowjet, you could see another jet down the tube... anyone know about that one?

Maybe something for the doc... how and what to clean and check on the carb? And pics are always nice...
