Your about 4 months to late. As of the end of January 2004 you can't do it anymore. The DMV and the CARB finally communicated.

My dads harley has many of the screming eagle parts. That arnt allowed down here and he got it registered. Purchased it in wa. though. Alot of the bikes are carbed still. I think they have to let you register it and ride it on the rode if it's legal in other states. Kinda like the seatbelt law dose not effect really old cars that had no seat belts.

I don't imagine that the Harley had an off road only use title on it. As long as the title or MSO say's off road use only on it there isn't a chance of getting it registered in CA. now.

bring that sucker up to Idaho, throw a brake light, mirrors and a horn of some sort on it and you can get a street plate. they are very lax, hardly ever check to see if you have DOT tires.

But the question is if I get it legalized for the street in idaho and move to cali. I should be able to register it down here to. If not isn't that breaking a federal law?

:D Hi,Just made my Huasberg road legal today in Edinburgh,Scotland,There is always a way so good luck with you task.

There is no how no way to street register an off road designated motorcycle in California after January 01/2004 unless it is a 1977 model year or older or a 1978 model year or newer and it has less than 50cc. Sorry Justin.

If Husaberg ever makes a 49cc bike it could be street registered!

We can street legal your Bike using the SPCNS clause in the vehicle code. The following is section 580 of the California Vehicle Code.

Specially Constructed Vehicle section 580
A "specially constructed vehicle" is a vehicle which is built for private use, not for resale, and is not constructed by a licensed manufacturer or remanufacture. A specially constructed vehicle may be built from (1) a kit; (2) new or used, or a combination of new and used, parts; or (3) a vehicle reported for dismantling, as required by Section 5500 or 11520, which, when reconstructed, does not resemble the original make of the vehicle dismantled. A specially constructed vehicle is not a vehicle which has been repaired or restored to its original design by replacing parts.

Cool thanks.

BTW: If you get your bike licensed as a SPCN. You can ride it year round instead of only certian months.

Specialty construction vehicles are a bitch. The CHP is strict on the inspection from what I hear. And before you try even starting on that, maybe you should find someone who will even give you a quote on insurance for a bike with a specialty construction title.. You should buy my '92 FE-501E. I put a dual sport kit on it and got it dual registered in Ca in Jan. It needs a rectifier though... Oh wait, I'm hi-jacking the thread. Anyway, good luck on the specialty title, and think about if it's worth it or not..
