Hi All,
I'm in the process of changing the Mahle fuel filter in the tank of my 2011 FE 390. I've got the hose clamps off, but the fuel hose won't come off the filter. Is there a trick to getting them off ? :cuss:

dont take it off the take it off at the connector plug by the choke. there is a button on the back and it pulls apart.

I think he means seperating the actual black hose from the filter inlet/outlet connectors. It's difficult but can be done by carefully cutting off the steel clamps and using heat (I used steam from a kettle) to soften the hose material. It appears to me that the hoses may be shrunk on at the factory.

I posted this on another thread

Here's a couple of pictures I took of the filter replacement..
It shows a trim tool I used to remove the old filter.
The dirty filter shown has only 1,000kms from new !

Hey Wiggy, If you are looking at what size Trim tool to get, the inlet and outlet measure 8.2mm on the Mahle in tank Fuel Filter.

I guess the closest in imperial would be a Trim tool with a 3/8 inch (9.525mm) gap.

I remembered that great post on how to get the hose off JRDoz and was going to try and find it but you beat me :)

Well, the simple job of changing a fuel filter has gone south on me. :cuss:
Got the hose off the outlet side of the filter, but the inlet has broken off the filter and is firmly stuck in the hose. I spose my only option now is to cut the hose off and replace it with a short length of 8mm submersible fuel hose.
Does anyone know the trick to getting the hose connectors in the pic apart so I can get separate the pump and press reg to get them out of the tank ?

From memory, if you look into the connector you'll see 4 tabs which you carefully prise outwards and this will release the male part of the connector.
