I've just tried two new 12V horns on a 2004 FS650 that is running without a battery and kickstart only.

the horns squawk horribly.

tried the adjustment screw and they just sound horrible! have I two duff horns or is the probelm the bike?

regards

do you actually have 12 volts at the horns power supply or less than 12v? i took my horn off once to do something with the wiring and reinstalled it and it was touching something or sitting in there not quit right and make squawking noises instead of an actual horn note. just a thought try the same horns on a different bike or not bolted down to anything.

It's a pet peeve of mine, what passes for a horn on a motorcycle. The first thing I did to my 570 when I got it home was to replace the little "eeeep" factory horn with an automotive horn that goes "honk."

so far I've had two new 12v and a new 6v and they all squawk!

I'll check for some figures. one of them had one of those tone screws but - no joy!

there seem to be many sizes of capacitor and my two trade suppliers don''t supply a motorcycle one ready made. would anyone (gotlund?) have a 'size' capacitor that would work?

thanks
