Although USA Dirt Bike gave restrained queries about the 09 Berg, the May issue of Motocross Action bags it!! They did say they took the lights etc off and used it for MX and things may have been different if it was used in the woods. Main complaint was that it was too heavy!

RE: Hi Torque

i saw a '09 450 on sunday being really well ridden in a MX. if he'd had harder suspension he'd have done better still. excellent effort to come 6-8 from 30 in a high grade meeting!

Jocke Ljunggren enters a couple of MX-races every year.
On the 25th of April he entered a race in Hagfors with an FE570. "Removed the lights, some electrics and added a slightly harder suspension", Jocke says on his site.
There were 8 elite licensed riders there so he was really pleased with his third. Especially since he collided with one guy in the start and had to spend the entire heat overtaking.

MXA totally trashed the bike in their report. They said that it was an Enduro bike blah blah blah. But their report failed to mention any of the good aspects of the bike. They tried putting KTM forks on it and then they dropped the rear sag, basically just totally ruined the handling as best they could. The only thing they said about the handling was that it was twitchy at speed and failed to mention how well it turned, something that is important in MX don't you think? BULLOCKS!

They also said something to the effect of: totally new technology but very poorly executed, it would be better if it had a "real" race chassis. The whole article just bagged on the bike, oh except for the brakes which are KTM. What a bunch of Jerks!! But hey, it's Jody's world over there. They have got to be the most out of touch and arrogant b*sterds in the dirt bikre rag world.

RE: Re: Hi Torque

When i used to get dirt bike and a few of the other american bike mags ( many years ago) they were forever bolting on every bit of crap - whether it did any good or not - too bikes and modifying them so that any comparison to the bikes we could buy was irrelevent.

doesn't sound like much has changed

RE: Re: Hi Torque

our trail riding rag over here (TBM) has just done an article on what you can get for £1,500. they ranted about the FE400e and how it's an old beauty! in it's day they loved the old 400 and they haven't forgotten it obviously.

May edition of USA Dirt Rider Magazine has rated the new 450 Berg number one!! So MX Action bagged it and another top testing magazine puts it at number one? Interesting that the cover of Dirt Rider shows the KTM appearing the winner, the summary of the KTM looks like it being the winner, but the Berg wins. It is almost looks like the Dirt Rider Magazine stuck it to MX Action as they make the point about how well it went in an MX.

The most recent Dirt Bike tests the 570, specifically Tom Webb, and he loves it. MXA always finds fault with any bike if that's of any consequence, they just about always add one tooth to the rear sprocket. I guess they must be that good that they need that much performance out of a 450, better than MC who said he couldn't ride a 450 to it's full potential.

If you follow MXA very closely, you will note that they LOVE the KTM 450sx. I believe that they rate bikes based upon lap time, so naturally the enduro suspended Hbg will suffer.

MXA has articles? I thought it was just a mail-order catalog for Emo riding gear...

how can an emo ride bikes? what does it hold onto with those short stubby wings?

what next? ostridge doin NASCAR?
