I just got an 94 501 fe(I think) and this is the first Burg that even have seen, so
I guess you can say "both feet first" lol ! I am a long time rider that raced motocross back in the mid 70's but haven't been on dirt bike much since the 80's and miss it! So this winter I picked up an 86 XR 250R that I went through
and was looking for a 2nd bike so my girlfriend could ride with me and found the
501 on CL, not running, semi in a basket, but the owner had started to resto
it and just had to many projects and didn't want to finish it. He had a garage
full of dirt bikes and seemed very knowledgeable about bikes and said he had
put a topend on it and looked over the rest of the motor, but that was all he had done. So with missing parts and being A newbe to Burgs, I am going to ask a
bunch of questions of you guys! My 1st question is how the fuel lines run on
this thing? I also don't think the Carb is stock on it either? Any help would be
greatly appreciated !:)

Lovely! No, wouldn't say it was a stock carb.

Any chance of pics from a few steps back? Am a big fan of these older ones :)

Is it known to be a non-runner at the moment, or..?

Welcome don't have that vintage but looking forward to learning about them As you do I hope. I couldn't even guess on that fuel line?

I add a Pic from the left side and it is a Mikuni carb, and I have not herd it run yet. I do understand that the fuel pump center connection go to the vac port on the intake boot
but I have a port in the bottom right on the tank and the petcock on the bottom left of
tank and in & out on the pump and one inlet on the carb. I have never had a fuel pump on a dirt bike so I am a little lost on gas line hook up? Also in the pics you can see the oil plug
is missing just below the carb and don't know where to get one? I dont see an oil filter anywhere on the motor either, do burgs use one? Sorry for being such a DA ....
