nice little 1/3 page article on Highland and their china production plans in the latest Cycle news page 14. Two inset pictures. I hope in a few years when I look for a 650-950 enduro/adventure bike for endess fire road touring thru the Sierras, that a Highland twin is in my future options list.

Dan, better order mine now!

Hi Bob,
I can sale you a brand new 950 today and have it for you in less than a month. I have one in my shop @ this very moment.

Unfortunately said motorcycle is neither DOT nor EPA certified.
Certification has been the hold up for over three years.

Best Regards,
Dale

back in the nineties when i first saw some pics of the highland outback and its engine it really seemed that it was made out of earlier husaberg design, fuel injected. is this true? back then it had some "teething" problems as any prototype, a friend of mine saw one parked out of an exhibition, i thing it was in kolhn, and underneath the bike was a lake of oil-just like the old times :)

Hi Oyk,
Previously Folan the Highland is indeed a close relative of Husaberg.
Said engine actually shares some hardware with Husaberg.
The Highland is however DOHC.

The early models were carbureted and the present Engine Management System for the V-Twin is crude. An alternative EMS is what I am currently working on.

Best Regards,
Dale

Didn't want to start another thread about this somewhat OT-subject...

There will be two Highland 450s in the SWE supermoto champs this year. One ridden by one of their R&D-engineers who last year rode a YZ450 and the other one is to be ridden by the reigning champ from the Open class. Not bad eyy?!
The champ is an old MX-hero who will probably also enter some national MX-events as well.
