HELP with SEM Ignition Coil

My son has a 1996 KTM 620 RXC-E. On his was from Oregon to Arizona the bike died and he is stranded. I got the bike to a shop for him, but the Mechanic said that the Ignition Coil is bad. When doing research I found that the Coil part # 58031006000 TM 15-05 is the same coil that was used in the Husaberg all models from 1989 - 1998. Any ideas on where to get an aftermarket replacement or other options to help him get unstuck. Thank You for any guidance you can provide.

This is the list of OEM part #'s that matched the coil in his bike
OEM PART CODES: 250009-01 / 1615381-01 / 800068903 / 800068904 / 58031006000 (TM 14-05)

where is the bike?
if ktm doesn't offer it anymore, you may need to get that one re-wound or go with an electrex which our taffy says is now acceptable. maybe he'll chime in

yes but its the red coil Ned. the thing is: does the mechanic understand that it is the stators that pack up normally? he needs to check out his stator.

there are three wires coming up from the stator that matter and they are a red, green and a black. the
red to black should read 1,750 ohms. (click 2 on the multimeter)
the green to black should read 165ohms and will likely be OK (everytime) (click 1)

it's the red to black. it will probably read '1' or nothing at all.

as for getting a red one, well, I reckon it should be a piece oh piss to cross reference but I haven't so I can't help. I can still get a SEM coil unit I think but they were never cheap.

regards

i was assuming (you know what they say) it was the stator. if the guy needs a red coil. i have one.

older post I happened to see

Sorry to bother.

I am in need of a red sem cdi/coil. You had mentioned you had one, do you still have it, if so would you be willing to sell it?

Thanks,

Kevin 1998 fe400e.

I now hold about 10 of them but they are blue to the same spec.

If you have an sem stator you need to get it rewound as it will go better if not stuffed and if stuffed it will be better than new.

Bad Sem is a very hair pulling issue. Dirt bike magazine had a bike that started very well when cold and ran perfectly when Roger Decoster rode it as I understand as he rode a certain way but when the magazine staff rode it they kept flaming out. They can sometimes test okay when cold.

I rode a year with a stuffed sem and it took someone else to tell me it was stuffed!
