Help with rear shock

I have a 1999 FC 501. Installing the rear shock, what is the best way to align the bottom hole of the WP shock so the bolt can be put in? Very tight and difficult to maneuver...any great easy tips out there? Thanks!
 
Clean the shock bottom and the swingarm mating surfaces first, so it's not so tight. Then grease it up and bolt the bottom first.
