I have a 2003 fe 450 that doesn't seem to be getting spark. I took it to a ktm dealer/mechanic but they didn't do anything and all the other mechanics I asked were wussies and don't even want to work on it. I have worked on it myself and have narrowed it down to spark, but the new cdi component I got doesn't seem to be the right one and has no place to mount so it cant ground out to the frame. Just am getting really desperate and have a lot invested in this bike.

If i cant get this bike to start up and run well I will be doing a part out so I will post on here if I end up doing that.

As a 450 was not produced in 2003 it could perhaps be a 400 or a 501. It could be a 2004 450. It makes a difference as the ignition was changed from a SEM to a Kokusan in 2004.

If you could post some pictures of the complete bike, ignition and carb it will be easy to ID.

yes, there's been a spate of people buying directly off the Chinese via Alibaba or Ebay and they are falsely advertising and catching loads of people out. I bought 3 as a starter so i made the mistake by 300%.

as Eric says, it is normally the stator. pull the 6 wires under the tank and using a multimeter set to ohms try the tests he told you of.

cheers
