Hi all,
I have an 05 FE550 with 16 hours on it, and I just adjusted the valves and had to pull the plug. I was amazed at how black the plug was with carbon, and when I put a zip tie down the spark plug hole and pulled it out it had a lot of carbon on the end from the top of the piston. Dale installed his jet kit when the bike was new, and I've been happy with the performance, but after seeing the plug it's obviously running very rich. It has a 150 main jet, so I'm reluctant to go much smaller. I had to go down to 1/2 turn out on the air screw on my last ride to get rid of the snap bog. I've tried emailing Dale for advice but I know he's a busy guy. Any advise would be appreciated.

My only concern is it starts right up with no choke needed, so Taffy's info about needing a smaller pilot sounds about right. I'll try a 35 pilot this week and see how it goes.
