Help wanted. Lubrication problems

I don’t know what’s the matter with my Berg.
The gudgeon pin of the piston gets worn out excessively.
I’ve recently acquired a ’98 FE 501 E and, a few weeks ago, replaced connecting rod bushing and gudgeon pin because they were strongly damaged. Now, a gear box breakdown threw me in the need to open the engine again and realized that pin and bush were abnormally spoilt again (less than 500 kms.) First time I blamed the unknown maintenance practiced by previous owner but, this time, I’m sure that the bike runs, always, with 1 lt. of high quality oil.
I thought in reed valve, but it was new too.
I don’t know if … The connecting rod bush has a drill to lubricate de pin, but the con-rod is not drilled, so oil could never reach that hole. Could it be the cause or is there a malfunction in the lubrication system?

Have you disassembled the oil pump, cleaned, and made sure the action was smooth? Is the plastic oil pump gear damaged or not making contact with the splined teeth of the matting gears? When the bike is running, can you visually see the oil cavitation in the view port (I know the clutch causes this but do you see anything out of the norm)? Have you checked the oil passages to make sure none are obstructed? I'm sure others will be along soon but this should start some of the obvious questions.

Yes, I've disassembled the oil pump. All looks in nice conditions and works smoothly. Now I am to clean all ducts with air pressure but, really don't see anything out of norm. I'll keep searching.

Hi Koko,

There is susposed to be a hole in the connecting rod pin boss, drilled at an angle through the bottom of the rod boss to meet the hole on the bushing. The bushing is susposed to be installed with the hole facing down, so it will line up with the hole in the connecting rod.

Here is page 37 of the 1999 Workshop Manual showing the hole, which is on the flywheel side of the connecting rod only.

I've perfectly saw the hole of the con-rod in your pdf.

I don't know the reason but my con-rod has not that hole, so now I think this sould be the problem and am to drill it.
