I'm new to husaberg and just got myself a road registered 1997 501but looking at the engine it's got 470 stamped on it . Will the 470 top end fit the 501 bottom or will it be a 470 engine. Also will there much difference from the 501 to a 470 . Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks...baz

The 470 motor was only made in 2001 and 2002. This is the second generation motor (2001-2008 ) and is quite a bit different than the 1st gen (1989-2000).
The 2nd generation motors have been put into the 1st generation frames by some.
A 470 cylinder will not fit on a 501 because there isn't one. The 2nd generation motors used a liner inside the center cases whereas the 1st gen motors had a cylinder.
How about some pics then we can nail this down?

I can't work out how to put pics on .
This engine has a a seperate barrel and a liner in cases and says 470cc and the cases are stamped 220048 cheers

The cases would mean its a 1997-1998 kick start only model.
If it truly is a 1997 470 then you may have a one off or something. It would be a rare Berg indeed.
