when riding my new 09 450 berg the front seems to be riding a little high compared to the rear and felt a little dis-jointed and deflected badly off roots so i checked the rear sag and set the static to 35mm then with out my riding gear had 100mm ive also backed off the preload on the front and raised the forks to the second mark at the yolks with made the bike look a little more balanced
the bike rode really well it's just that i'm trying to find that good feeling with the bike at race speed IE when i try to push to keep up with my friends thats the part where i seem to be struggling a little apart from that i think its a great bike

I think i can do a lot better with the front forks as well, they seem harsh through the stroke over the rough stuff and hard on landing. I have tried more preload , less preload, and reb and comp but no joy. So i amchanging the springsto 4.6s and having a revalve done by the guy that does Midwest Racing husabergs. I will let you know if its good.
For now, i would back off preload, go between standard and comfort on comp and leave reb standard, see how it feels. Otherwise do a revalve and check spring weights.

I had the same problem/feel untill I reprung the bike for my weight front and rear. Set the sag and it was ready to go. Clickers are very close to the standard setting. I dont feel a need for any revalving at this point, but then I only use it for trail riding.

agree with ken

you can't revalve a bike until you have put in the correct springs. the springs are for your weight the damping is for the bike.

re handling of me babe

i believe the front fork springs are 4.4kgs which is what i always use and the rear spring is 76-90 as standard for the 09 it's just that some people find setting a bike up very easy and based on that asumption that two heads are better than one i posted my question in the hope that someone would have the answer

Johny, Your rear spring is not a stock 72/250.
76-90 is a progressive spring, i would guess for a weight around 200lbs.
How do you find it?

Nick

Here is the curent setup on my 570. I am very happy with it.

09 FE 570
Rider 260 lbs in gear. Fuel tank full.
Front springs .48, rear 8.8/250 10mm preload.
Static sag 30mm
Race sag 115mm standing.
Clkickers set to soft except +2 on rear compression.

Again, this is for trailriding.
