I have been riding forever and recently purchased a 2000 FE650E that locked up after 14 hours and sat ever since. I have not opened her up yet but I will soon. I have the dream of many "I want to build a monster" Big Bore, all the stuff that costs money and makes me feel young and stupid again.
Currently ride Suzuki DR650se, V-strom 650 xr600r and xt225 Honda pacific coast 800

aaaaah!!! a 20 day camel man..........

man goes to buy a camel
ah sir, we have three models, we have the 8 day, the 10 day and the incredible 15 day camel.

man buys the 15 day camel and goes across the desert for 20 days without water.

the camel snuffs it.

your engine is already at it's limit mate, it won't take any stroking nor boring. 650 is what it is.

which is it, a 2000 600 or a 2001 650? totally different animal. if it's a 2001 (with the water pump on the side of the clutch cover). sell it for parts.
as far as the monster is concerned, it already is one.

Like Ned conveyed, there is no such thing as a 2000 FE650e, if its a 2000 600 then you have the highest level of development for the first generation motor and a unique bike as it has the first generation motor coupled with the second generation motor frame. Definitely a bike worth keeping and repairing.

If its a 2001 FE 650e then you have the first year of the second generation motor which was a complete disaster. Use it for target practice, send it off a cliff or try to part it out. Perhaps give it to someone who will take it off your hands and run the other way, then you won't have to pay a hazardous waste disposal fee.

by the way, i rode my '98 fe600e (elduro) around athens in the cross country races in jacksonville and several dual sports out of mcarthur. (where i learned it had no reserve fuel)
waaay too much bike for either one.

OK not a 650 and it's for sale

Thanks for the input out there and you are so correct fe600e it is, however I am done with it and have decided to sell, I will get it out there on the classifieds and I have a couple dozen pictures. Best offer over $1500 and someone will be the new owner.
