I could use some help working to get my beloved 08 Husaberg FE 550e back on the road.
So what went down today was, I was riding down the road and I noticed my engine seemed to be bogging down, shortly thereafter it died. As I tried to restart the bike I could hear a nasty banging sound. It was as if someone was smacking the cylinder with a hammer. Now I understand something bad has taken place. What that is I do not know. I have drained the oil and there is a massive amount of metal shards that has drained out with the oil. I imagine I am going to be dealing with a rebuild . I have dealt with plenty of automotive issues but never a bike so I really don't know where to start, or if this is something only a trained motorcycle mechanic should attempt. I could definitely use some advice if anyone is willing. Also if I do attempt this where do I find parts and what parts should I be getting. I have been trying to look up parts but I can not seem to find much for my bike. Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

you need to be checking the crank axial float as it is stripped and record it. you can also measure the squish if you want? otherwise just check it carefuly as you strip it.

if you have an air gun/too when the only tool you need is a flywheel remover.

I hold the biggest stock of kit for these, I'm in the UK.

cheers
