HELP I blew upmy 01 fs650 need some sugestions.

So the worst thing that could happen to me happened to me this weekend. I dont know what exactly happened but a exhaust valve got mangled into the piston.. I wasnt riding it hard left a stop sign casually shifting through the gears i hit 3rd gear no sudden noises the tire just locked up. So i need everying new.. Everything on the crank shaft to a new head an everything inbetween.
Do you think it is worth putting the money into it to repair it. Does anyone know of a good 4 stroke mechanic in the eastern usa near maryland that would be able to do a complete rebuild. I really like the bike i was thinking if i got the engine totally done over it will be just about a new bike.

Does anyone know of anyone that has a used engine that will fit in a 01 fs650? Or parts that can help me get it running again.
Would parting the bike out be the way to go and take a loss insted of putting more and more into it.
If anyone has had this happen to them please let me know what you did of have any idea and tips to help me out i would really appreciate it. Thanks so much Mike
 
There are several choices for engine builders it is really up to you but you also have to realize that there is nothing like these being made anymore in terms of weight and power. If you like the bike then fix it if not scrap it/piece it out

I was wondering if there was a complete engine out there some where i can buy and put on. Would a newer fs engine fit on a 01 frame?
 
Not sure about a direct replacement I know the ignition is different the rest of the engine is pretty much the same alot of changes on the internals but finding one could be an issue and who knows what your getting I'll send you a pm of a decent engine guy he does mostly ktms but has built several husabergs new and old has a real good rep and good prices. Now might also be a good time to upgrade the engine internals and increase the displacement as well
 
maybe first you can take down rocker cover to see what it's situation there, and after it take down the head, you will know much more about your real situation and damage.
 
We took it apart the day it happened. Everthing got screwed up.. An exhaust valve brokeoff in half dropped into the cylinder didnt put a hole in the cylinder but tore it up along with the whole head, shattered the sleve bent the rod on the crank so i wouldnt even want to risk putting the crank back. The crank beakings were ceased.
I been looking in this husaberg site in the uk a referbished engine for 1100 in euro money i have no idea what that is in american money. $160 to ship. Sounds better than about 4 grand to rebuild it.. What do you guys think?
 
1100 EUR it's about 1500 USD $.
Think that this is god price, and you can always sell yours in parts and get back part of money.
 
try Dave clark Racing in the uk, he had a 02 650 engine a while back, wanted 600 GBP for it then.
