Help, Husaberg FS650 Wont Start...

Right then,

After stripping my bike down for the winter, getting the frame re-painted, new wiring loom, and a general tidy up etc.. I went to start her on Saturday and big smiles she started first time on the button just like she did before the rebuild... I Rode her out the garage, turned around rode back in and she stopped. Thinking nothing of her stopping I went inside and would finish the last few bits off on Sunday...

Gone back out on Sunday (after the battery was on charge all night) and she won't start at all... Iv tried new plugs, drained all old fuel out and put fresh stuff in, new battery, checked earths and now I'm stuck on what to do next.

When I go to start her up, the starter motor spins but only engages for 1 compression cycle it seems, then just spins freely, or just won't engage, or turns her over enough to back fire then disengages... Thought this may be the sprague gear (thingy) but am not sure, I can't get her to fire Through kicking either but as iv never tried before it may be my technique..

Im not sure how the sprague thing works if iv even got it right I have one. The new battery I tried was only a 4amp and felt like it turned over slower than my old 6a so I put my old one back in. Could it still be the battery not giving the starter enough power? Or could there be a million possibilities?

Your help will be very much appreciated, I'm not giving up on the big berg this easily!

based on what you describe, you need to make sure first of all that your valve settings are right, especially the exhaust. if that makes no difference, then pull the clutch cover and remove the small torque limiter gear and test it for breakaway torque. the info is in the doc. if it checks ok, your next step is to pull the clutch (mark the gear positions first) and remove / test the starter sprague. it's usually fixed by replacing the center piece (which is rapidly becoming hard to find).
