Help: Cracked 650 and rebuild

After 8000km and 200h of perfect running, my fs 650 e stopped for a broken valve spring (and consequently bended valve): Engine was always threated like a son, always warmed up properly, I can only remember having done some misgearing and overrevs (but isn't the bike supposed to have a rev limiter?).
Besides replacing all four springs and the bended valve (or , after checking, all of them), do you suggest me to split the cases and perform a complete rebuild? Keep in mind the 200h of it...
Also ,if you think so, could you please tell me what should i check for and the specific parts I'have to purchase.
I'm asking it here cos where I do live (Italy) there is no mechanic really expert on Husabergs, so I need your hints!

The reason for the valvespring cut is to little tenssion on the spring itself.
We have had that failure in the begining of our era, put a shimm under the spring to increase tension. The spring will otherwise vibrate until it cuts.
Buy aftermarket or OEM titanium springs from KTM SX450, they are perfect.
I would open the engine to check the wear, replace the parts.
If its a older 650 i´ll go for the main bearing rebuild to roller bearings instead of ballbearings.
If you also needs to upgrade the performance this is the time to do it.
200hrs, you should have some wear on the piston and camshaft.

Italy: RIGO MOTO handles husaberg well, they where the factory team not long ago, they should know. But sometimes people change workplace and takes experiance with them.
We offer som work on our homepage, so you can see the pricelevel for a overhaul, its nearly the same in all europe.

I offer one piece valves and a dual spring kit should you be interested.

Bike is a 2005...
About the titanium springs from the K450: aren't Titanium springs weaker (like titanium valves are weaker compared to steel ones) ?

For Lineaweaver : Thanks for the offer but the shipping from USA to Italy would cost too much!

Titanium springs are quite strong and merely take an early set requiring adjustment after initial run in.

When referenced regarding valve springs Titanium most often is with regard to the retainer.

Titanium valves are very strong, they simply provide for a poor bearing / sealing surface.

Via USPS Shipping to Italy is really not unreasonable.

The shippingcosts aren't the problem most of the time.
It's the extra tax and importcosts that make the price go up.I can tell,I drive a Ford Ranchero and need to get my parts shipped to Holland.
Next month I have to visit the USA for work(Rochester,NY).
Probabely my travelbag will be loaded with carstuff when I get back.
Anyone knows a good carstore in Rochester to visit? :D

Its always a problem with import tax from USA, i have bought alot of parts when we raced with Honda, we bought from XR´s only, the tax and exchange rate killed us.

Within Europe its easier for us, same tax rule and pay with Euro.
Ex: Titanium valve springs, complete set for 4 valves incl retainers, aftermarket parts- 180Euro+ shipping 25Euro.
OEM KTM450SX: approx 400Euro+ shipping.
And there is no import tax, just the VAT.
Should not be hard to find it in Italy, if not send us a mail then we can help you fromSweden.

Gentlemen,
I completely understand. Shipping to Canada presents the same problem.

I wish you the very best.

Please keep UHE posted as such is valuable information.

Sincerely,
Dale

When ordering stuff overseas,I always ask if they can send the goods as a gift. That way you don't pay import tax(at least in the Netherlands, don't know about other european countries)Too bad not all shops will participate...
Saves you a lot of money.
